Richard Road Retention Dredging
The City has started to dredge the Richard Road basin. The basin was installed in the early 2010s and has collected a lot of sediment over the years. We have lost storage capacity and the inflow pipe was half full of water. Most of the spoils will remain onsite and be vegetated once completed. We anticipate the work to be completed by the end of this week.
As you are aware we received many complaints of the aesthetics of this area. Over the years we have tried to manage the growth of invasive species with the use of herbicides. However given the establishment of these species we were unable to effectively control them. As we discussed in the past good maintenance practice involves the heavy dredging and removal of sediment every 10 years.
This work will allow more storage capacity and enable our service department to maintain this area.
Chip Seal – Road Program
Specialized Construction will begin chip sealing Joyce, Craig, Marianna, Wright, Louis, and Lenwood late next week. We will allow the roads to cure a week before applying the fog seal. The streets will be swept prior to the fog seal.
Notifications will be distributed this week, notifying the residents in the area.
