About Mayor Sam Alai

Mayor Sam Alai
  • Elected Mayor in November 2007. Re-elected in November 2011 and 2015. Prior to that, he served as an At-Large Councilman, acting as Council President from 2005-2007, and Council President Pro-Tem from 2003-2005.
  • Holds a B.A. in Political Science and History from Baldwin-Wallace College. In addition, he has attended numerous workshops, training sessions, and Continuing Education Seminars.
  • Serves on the Executive Board of the Cuyahoga County Mayors’ and City Managers’ Association and the Board of Directors of the Broadview Heights Chamber of Commerce. He is also a Trustee and Founding Member of the Broadview Heights Community Foundation and a Trustee for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools Foundation. 
  • Participates in the North Royalton/Broadview Heights Rotary, Chemical Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA), and the Knights of Columbus. He has served in various capacities in other volunteer organizations in the community, including the Chippewa Elementary PTA, Brecksville Cooperative Pre-School, and youth sports coach. 
  • Married to Terry Alai (a Special Ed. Teacher in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District), the couple has six children: Alicia, Jason, Erin, Amanda, Samuel, and Celeste and four grandchildren.
